The credenza is surmounted by a large original mirror, elegantly framed with richly moulded detailing that gives the piece considerable height and presence. The white marble worktop below provides a striking contrast to the warm tones of the cabinet and creates a substantial surface for displaying sculpture, lighting or decorative objects. The central section incorporates a double-door mirrored cupboard opening to reveal two internal shelves, providing generous concealed storage. To either side are open display compartments with mirrored backs, creating additional depth and reflecting displayed objects and surrounding light. Throughout the piece, carefully executed mouldings and decorative details demonstrate the high standard of Victorian cabinetmaking, while the richly figured timber displays attractive natural grain, deep colour and a lustrous aged character. The credenza is raised upon a substantial plinth base, giving the large piece a strong and beautifully balanced architectural silhouette. Presented in excellent antique condition and retaining its original mirror and key, with appropriate evidence of age consistent with its 19th-century origin. For ease of transportation and installation, the credenza separates into two principal sections. At 174 cm wide, this is an imposing statement piece with exceptional decorative presence, ideally suited to a grand drawing room, dining room, entrance hall or sophisticated period interior.
