The chest is arranged with five drawers in total, comprising two smaller drawers above three generously proportioned full-width drawers. This classic configuration provides substantial practical storage while creating a beautifully symmetrical façade. Fine satinwood stringing decorates both the drawer fronts and top, providing an elegant contrast against the deep tones of the mahogany. This restrained inlaid decoration highlights the architectural lines of the chest and demonstrates the quality of the cabinetmaking. Each drawer retains its brass handles and fittings, complementing the warm tones of the timber and enhancing the authentic period character of the piece. The chest is raised upon traditional bracket feet, giving it a strong yet elegant silhouette. The mahogany displays attractive natural figuring throughout, with rich colour and a mature patina developed through centuries of age and use. Solidly constructed and presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its 18th-century origin. An elegant and highly practical example of Georgian furniture, combining generous storage with refined proportions and understated decorative detailing. Ideally suited to a bedroom, dressing room, drawing room or sophisticated contemporary interior. Dimensions: Height: 93 cm Width: 110 cm Depth: 49.5 cm See less
