Subtle forms of sailing and motor vessels in a busy harbor setting.

Wonderful blues and greens, with soft yellows, coral, greys and more on a textured board.

Presented in a highly carved and gilt decorated gallery frame, with a pale grey paint wash giving it even greater character. Presents as the original artist's package.

18" wide by 16" tall by 2" deep.

Likely French, in the style of Raoul Dufy and other legends of the era.

In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...

We love the Fauvist era, and are fortunate to have Dufy works in our personal collection.

This one stands out to us on that merit, as well as its size - it can stand on its own to anchor a room or happily join a stack in an English or French country cottage decorating scheme. Rustic European for sure - which works everywhere!

And, while the gilt frame shows losses, the originality and honest patina are fantastic - it's actually better just as it is than if it was crisper or brighter.

A wonderful addition to any fine collection. See less
