A note on this piece: Imperial Glass of Bellaire, Ohio called this line 'Nucut' — pressed glass molded to imitate hand-cut crystal, with hobstars and fans doing the work of a cut-glass wheel at a fraction of the price. This compote matches Imperial's Nucut #212-10 form, made 1967–1972 during the company's carnival glass revival. The rainbow sheen isn't paint — metallic salts were sprayed onto the hot glass and fired in, which is why the color shifts from gold to violet as the light moves. The deep red glass (Imperial's Sunset Ruby) glows through the inside of the bowl. The IG mark on the foot — Imperial's trademark from 1951 — is how you know it's a genuine Imperial revival piece.
