4 bowls (5" round) made in England by Wood and Sons. The pattern is "Yuan". These were made in the 1920's. The selected items are antique Wood & Sons "Yuan" pattern blue and white ironstone berry/fruit bowls, designed by Frederick Rhead around 1916 in England. This highly recognizable Chinoiserie transferware features a prominent stylized crane (often referred to as a peacock or exotic bird) surrounded by intricate floral panels and geometric grid borders.
Measuring approximately 4 to 5 inches in diameter, these shallow rimmed dishes were originally produced as fruit/berry saucers or small dessert dishes, making them excellent compact multi-purpose bowls.
