A handsome pair of vintage 1920s to 1930s cast iron bookends featuring a high-relief depiction of the iconic "End of the Trail" motif. Inspired by James Earle Fraser’s famous 1894 sculpture, this evocative design portrays a weary Native American warrior and his horse braving the elements.
Each piece features a wonderful, authentic aged patina with subtle gold-gilded highlights that emphasize the sharp, tactile casting. Unmarked as was typical for many foundries of the Art Deco and Western revival era, this pair offers excellent weight and structural stability, making them perfectly suited to hold a substantial collection of books or serve as standalone sculptural statements on a desk, mantle, or shelf.
