The lid of each box, including the curved neck and head, lifts off to reveal a glossy black lacquered interior. The set comes from the estate of a US Foreign Service officer who served at American embassies across Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe from 1956 to the early 1980s, and was acquired in the late 1950s to early 1960s and kept in storage since. A signed provenance statement accompanies the purchase, and documentation of the officer’s service is available on request. The largest duck measures approximately 8.5 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 5.25 inches high, the middle approximately 7 by 4.5 by 5 inches, and the smallest approximately 6 by 4 by 4.25 inches.
