An elegant antique blue-and-white covered vase made in 1911 by De Porceleyne Fles, the historic Dutch manufactory now known as Royal Delft.
Distinguished by its graceful, elongated silhouette and beautifully executed hand-painted decoration, this exceptional piece features a continuous panoramic Dutch waterside landscape depicting traditional windmills, village architecture, trees, and tranquil waterways. Rich cobalt-blue floral patterns and scrolling ornamental borders frame the landscape, creating a striking interplay between intricate botanical decoration and finely rendered scenic painting.
The vase retains its fitted domed lid, ornamented with coordinating floral designs and surmounted by a sculptural finial.
The underside bears the historic De Porceleyne Fles factory mark incorporating the JT monogram associated with Joost Thooft, along with the AG date code corresponding to 1911 and additional painter’s and production markings. Corresponding markings on the lid further support its originality. The individual decorator has not been conclusively identified.
Notably, this piece predates the manufacturer’s receipt of its official Royal designation in 1919, making it an especially appealing early example of the pottery produced by the celebrated Delft manufactory.
Condition: Good antique condition with fine, age-related crazing throughout the glaze, consistent with its age and ceramic construction. The crazing is confined to the glaze and is not structural. The vase has been carefully inspected, with no structural cracks observed. Minor discoloration and surface wear are present on the underside, consistent with more than a century of age and handling. Please examine the photographs for additional condition details.
Dimensions: Approximately 11 inches high × 3 inches wide × 3 inches deep, including the fitted lid.
