A fine late 19th-century Russian solid silver beaker by Moscow silversmith Pyotr Abrosimov, dating to circa 1880–1890. with its elegant proportions and distinctly Russian character, the piece is an attractive example of Imperial-era silver craftsmanship. The beaker is formed with a clean, upright profile that places emphasis on the quality of the precious metal and accomplished workmanship. Its polished silver surface gives the vessel an understated elegance while retaining the substantial character associated with traditional Russian drinking vessels. Produced in Moscow during the final decades of the Imperial Russian period, the beaker reflects the city's important tradition of silversmithing. Moscow workshops produced a wide range of finely crafted domestic and decorative silver objects during the 19th century, with identifiable maker's marks adding considerably to their collecting interest.
The attribution to Pyotr Abrosimov, together with its Moscow origin and circa 1880–1890 date, makes the piece particularly appealing for collectors of Russian silver and late 19th-century European decorative arts. A sophisticated and highly displayable piece that can be appreciated independently or incorporated into a collection of Imperial Russian silver.
