The sculptural bronze body depicts an elegantly modelled female figure in the Neoclassical tradition, retaining a rich aged patina that highlights the modelling and surface detail. The composition reflects the taste for classically inspired sculptural decorative arts that flourished in France during the mid-19th century. Above the figure sits a large hand-moulded faceted opaline glass globe dating to the early 20th century. Its geometric surface softly diffuses the light while creating an attractive contrast with the dark patinated bronze below. The lamp retains a drip-tray-style gallery with brass B22 bayonet-fit bulb holder, together with a period ivory Bakelite inline switch and Wylex Bakelite plug. It has been professionally rewired in period-style three-core fabric-braided cable, earthed and tested. At 77 cm tall, this is a substantial decorative lamp with considerable sculptural presence, suitable for a console, library, drawing room or period interior.
