The substantial outer shade is formed from opaque glass decorated with an all-over quatrefoil pattern, creating an unusually graphic surface that becomes particularly effective when illuminated. Suspended within is a separate opaline milk glass inner diffuser, softening the light and producing a warm, even glow while emphasizing the patterned outer shell. The shade is suspended from a slender metal stem beneath an original two-part, colour-coordinated gallery. Above, a distinctive red cone-shaped ceiling canopy provides a strong contrast to the white glass and gives the fixture its characteristic space age-influenced mid-century appearance. Original fittings include the central metal column, brass b22 bayonet bulb holder, locking gallery and height-adjustable ceiling fitting. A particularly decorative example of post-war german lighting design, well suited to mid-century modern, space age and contemporary interiors. The fixture has been tested and is reported to be in working order.
