A striking original French Art Deco figural table lamp dating to circa 1930, combining a sculptural female dancer with richly veined marble and an atmospheric hand-moulded art-glass globe. The composition embodies the fascination with movement, dance and the female form that defined French decorative arts during the interwar period. The elegantly modelled figure is executed in patinated spelter with an aged bronze finish, creating a dramatic sculptural counterpoint to the illuminated glass. The figure is arranged alongside a spherical neckless art-glass shade with a softly marbled appearance. When illuminated, the globe diffuses the light into a warm ambient glow, transforming the piece from decorative sculpture into atmospheric accent lighting. The composition stands upon a substantial veined marble base, providing both visual contrast and stability. Period Bakelite electrical components further retain the character of the original lamp. The lamp has been professionally rewired and incorporates both a base switch and an override switch. It is reported to be in full working order.
