The focal point is the elongated hand-moulded opaline glass cylindrical shade, distinguished by its pronounced vertical ribbing. The fluted surface gives the otherwise minimalist form additional architectural depth while softly diffusing the light to produce an elegant, even illumination. The shade is suspended from its original chrome-plated “monk cap” fitting assembly, comprising a graduated upper gallery, internal circular locking plate, threaded locking shaft and original chrome-plated b22 bayonet-fit bulb holder. A slender central stem continues upward to the matching adjustable ceiling rose, creating the streamlined vertical silhouette characteristic of 1930s modernist lighting. The combination of brilliant white opaline glass and polished chrome gives the fixture a timeless architectural quality, equally suited to an art deco interior or a contemporary kitchen, hallway, bedroom, bar or restaurant.
