The deep bowl-shaped glass shade has a softly scalloped edge and an etched decorative border with graduated pigmentation. At its centre is an engraved starburst motif, giving the shade a particularly attractive geometric character when viewed from below and creating subtle variations of light across the glass when illuminated. The shade is suspended from three substantial bronze anchor points and original bronze chains, leading to a heavy stylized bronze ceiling plate. A particularly attractive detail is the central drop canopy, combining warm brass with alabaster and providing an elegant focal point beneath the shade. The original internal fittings include a bronze and ceramic edison screw bulb holder. The fixture has been professionally rewired using period-appropriate fabric-braided three-core cable, earthed and tested, and is reported to be in full working order. A sophisticated period ceiling light with a strong architectural presence, particularly well suited to art deco, traditional and eclectic interiors.
