The focal point is the original hand-moulded opalescent hobnail glass globe, formed with pronounced faceted ribbing that creates an exceptionally decorative surface. The textured glass catches and refracts the light beautifully, producing a soft atmospheric glow when illuminated. Above the shade is a distinctive stacked and stepped gallery in patinated brass, giving the fixture a strong architectural silhouette. The suspension incorporates its original brass chain, internal metal fittings and Edison screw-fit bulb holder, together with a cone-shaped ceiling canopy featuring an adjustable locking neck and original hanging assembly. The lower decorative canopy is finished with a brass finial, completing the balanced vertical composition. The naturally developed patina of the brass contrasts particularly well with the luminous white opalescent glass. The fixture has been professionally rewired using period-appropriate three-core coated cable, earthed, tested and is in working order.
