The upper section is particularly striking, featuring a raised architectural gallery centred by an attractive convex mirror. This unusual decorative feature creates a strong focal point and gives the sideboard considerably more presence than a conventional serving piece of the period. Below, the sideboard offers practical storage through two useful drawers positioned above a single-door cupboard. The drawers and cupboard retain their original brass handles and fittings, adding authenticity and an attractive decorative contrast against the warmly coloured oak. The generous worktop provides ample space for serving or displaying lamps, ceramics, artwork and other decorative objects, while the enclosed storage below makes the piece equally practical for contemporary use. Raised on elegant tapered legs, the sideboard has a refined and well-balanced silhouette characteristic of quality Edwardian furniture. The slender supports provide a sense of lightness despite the substantial proportions of the upper gallery. Throughout, the oak displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established character, beautifully complementing the aged brass fittings and mirror glass. Standing 149 cm high overall and measuring 122 cm wide, the sideboard has impressive presence without being excessively large. It would work beautifully within a dining room, hallway, drawing room or living space. Presented in great antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. A particularly attractive and distinctive example of Edwardian furniture, combining beautifully grained oak, an unusual convex mirror gallery, two drawers, enclosed cupboard storage, original brass fittings and elegant tapered legs within a highly decorative and practical design.
