The large geometric dome shade is formed from moulded cased opaline glass, producing a soft, diffused illumination when lit. Above sits an elaborate multi-stage bronze and brass gallery with stepped detailing, ventilation and its original locking bolts. The suspension is particularly decorative, featuring a long hexagonal-profile bronze column with an architectural capital and upper grab ring, complemented by the original bronze and copper ceiling plate. The aged surfaces display an attractive natural patina developed over approximately a century. The light retains its original internal fittings and brass b22 bayonet bulb holder. It has been professionally rewired with period-appropriate braided three-core cable, earthed and tested. A substantial and architectural example of early art deco lighting, equally suited to a hallway, dining room, entrance hall or period interior.
