The lamp features a distinctive green enamelled metal trough shade, dramatically contrasted against a black enamelled articulated frame and substantial stepped circular base. Its elegant swan-neck profile gives the piece a strong sculptural quality, while the adjustable construction allows the shade and arm to be positioned for directional task lighting. The combination of enamelled metal, bronze and bakelite components reflects the practical yet sophisticated approach to lighting design emerging in continental europe during the early 20th century. The rich green shade is particularly characteristic of period office, library and banker's lighting. A highly decorative original lamp with an authentic industrial character, ideal for a desk, library, study or as an accent piece within an art deco, bauhaus or contemporary interior. Presented in beautiful period condition with natural ageing, patination and surface wear consistent with its age and use.
