The wardrobe features a thoughtfully arranged interior designed to maximise functionality. To the left is a generous hanging compartment fitted with a hanging rail and multiple hooks, providing ample space for garments and accessories. To the right is a smaller cupboard fitted with several additional hanging hooks, offering further organised storage and demonstrating the particularly practical nature of the compactum design. Beneath this section are three smaller drawers positioned above a larger lower drawer, creating generous storage for folded clothing, linens and personal items. Each drawer retains its original handles, preserving the established character of the piece. The drawer fronts are beautifully decorated with finely reeded detailing, adding texture and architectural interest to the design while demonstrating the attention to craftsmanship evident throughout. A bevel-edged mirror incorporated into the front provides a practical dressing feature while adding elegance and visual depth to the wardrobe. The ash is particularly attractive, displaying beautiful natural figuring, warm matured colouring and pronounced grain throughout. The distinctive character of the timber contributes considerably to the decorative presence of the piece. Carved detailing further enriches the design, demonstrating the quality of the cabinet making and providing an attractive complement to the figured ash and reeded drawer fronts. Very well made and of good quality, the wardrobe represents an excellent combination of Victorian craftsmanship and intelligent storage design. Despite standing an impressive 206 cm high, the wardrobe measures only 117 cm wide and 50 cm deep, allowing it to provide considerable storage capacity within a relatively economical footprint. The combination of hanging compartments, multiple hooks, four drawers, original handles, bevel-edged mirror and beautifully figured ash makes this an especially practical and desirable piece of 19th-century bedroom furniture. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and historic use consistent with its 19th-century origin. A highly desirable Victorian ash compactum wardrobe combining extensive organised storage, beautiful natural timber and accomplished cabinet making within an elegant and unusually practical design.
