The table incorporates two hinged drop leaves, allowing its width to increase from a compact 79 cm when closed to an impressive 127.5 cm when fully extended. This adaptable construction provides a generous surface when required while allowing the table to occupy considerably less space when not in use. A single drawer is positioned beneath the top, providing useful concealed storage. Its beautifully carved front introduces an attractive decorative element and retains its original knob handle, preserving the period character of the piece. The oak displays pronounced natural grain and attractive figuring throughout, complemented by rich, warm tones and an appealing aged patina that highlights the natural beauty of the timber. Very well constructed and presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. The combination of compact proportions and an expandable top makes this a particularly versatile piece. It could function beautifully as a side table, occasional table, small dining table or supplementary serving table within traditional, country-house or contemporary interiors.
