The three female figures are beautifully modelled in an elegant Neoclassical composition, standing intertwined in a graceful dance. Two figures raise their arms above the central figure, holding a delicate floral garland, while their flowing robes create a wonderful sense of movement throughout the sculpture. Particularly striking is the extensive rich gilt decoration, contrasting dramatically with the creamy white porcelain of the figures. The elaborate folds and sweeping drapery are highlighted in lustrous gold, while the oval naturalistic base is decorated with applied flowers and finished with a broad gilt border. The underside reportedly bears a crowned underglaze mark incorporating intertwined letters. The precise factory attribution remains uncertain, although the form, decoration and mark are consistent with the tradition of Continental European, particularly German, porcelain manufacture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The subject of the Three Graces has its origins in Classical mythology and became particularly popular within European decorative arts, making this an exceptionally attractive piece for both porcelain collectors and sophisticated traditional interiors. Condition: Excellent antique condition overall, with the modelling and extensive gilding presenting beautifully. A subtle yellowish tone is visible to portions of the arms and hands, consistent with the piece as acquired and unobtrusive in the overall presentation. Material Porcelain with extensive gilt decoration Measurements Height: approx. 25 cm / 9.8 in Width: approx. 17 cm / 6.7 in Depth: approx. 11 cm / 4.3 in Period Circa 1890–1910 See less
