The lamp is conceived in a Corinthian architectural style, with a tall sculptural porcelain body enriched with gold-leaf decoration and ornamental detailing. The classical influence gives the piece a distinctly luxurious character, while its Italian manufacture and decorative treatment place it firmly within the glamorous interiors of the post-war period. Above the porcelain column sits a beautifully formed frosted Murano glass shade, hand-moulded to produce a soft diffused illumination. The restrained white glass provides an elegant contrast to the multicoloured and gilded porcelain below, allowing the decorative base to remain the principal visual focus. The combination of Italian porcelain, gold-leaf decoration and Murano glass makes this a particularly attractive statement lamp, equally suited to a console table, side table, bedroom, drawing room or sophisticated Mid-Century interior. The lamp retains its period character and has been professionally rewired, tested and presented in working order. It is in beautiful period condition with natural ageing and patina consistent with its age. Material Gold-leaf decorated porcelain, hand-moulded Murano glass, metal and Bakelite Measurements displayed in photos
