A striking French Art Deco table lamp by Hettier & Vincent, dating to circa 1930, combining a tall architectural chrome-plated … Read more A striking French Art Deco table lamp by Hettier & Vincent, dating to circa 1930, combining a tall architectural chrome-plated stem with a beautifully moulded opaline glass globe shade. The shade is particularly decorative, formed in substantial moulded glass with a pronounced geometric floral and skyscraper-inspired relief pattern characteristic of the French Art Deco period. When illuminated, the opaline glass takes on a warm amber tone and dramatically accentuates the deeply moulded geometric decoration. The shade is supported within an original ventilated metal gallery above a slender faceted chrome-plated column, terminating in a substantial stepped geometric base. The elongated proportions and restrained architectural construction provide an elegant counterpoint to the richly patterned glass. Attributed to Hettier & Vincent, the celebrated Parisian lighting and decorative arts manufacturer associated with some of the most distinctive French lighting designs of the interwar period. The lamp retains its period character and naturally developed patina and has been professionally rewired, earthed and tested. An excellent decorative example of 1930s French Art Deco lighting, suitable as a statement desk lamp, console lamp or accent light within both period and contemporary interiors.
