The naturalistic modelling beautifully captures the distinctive character and movement of the animal, with a richly textured surface suggesting the fox's dense fur and contrasting with the smoother modelling of the legs and body. A deep brown patinated finish further accentuates the sculptural detail and gives the bronze an attractive, established appearance. Hand-cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax method and individually hand-finished, the sculpture has a substantial presence while retaining the elegant proportions and alert expression associated with the red fox. Particularly suited to a country garden, terrace or landscaped setting, it would look especially effective positioned amongst planting or along a pathway, creating the impression of a fox moving naturally through the landscape. Equally attractive as an interior decorative sculpture, it makes a distinctive addition to a country house or wildlife-inspired collection.
