Reclaimed from a period property in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, the fireplace combines the surround, mantel and fire opening within an integrated composition, creating an impressive focal point suitable for a drawing room, reception room, dining room or other period interior. The solid cast iron construction gives the piece considerable presence, while the traditional detailing reflects the craftsmanship and decorative character associated with fireplaces produced around the turn of the 20th century. The fireplace has been finished using traditional black grate polish, producing a rich dark gunmetal appearance that enhances the depth and definition of the cast ironwork while retaining an authentic period character. Its combination design makes it both an architectural and decorative feature, particularly well suited to the sympathetic restoration of a Victorian or Edwardian property. Equally, the dark sculptural finish could provide an attractive contrast within a more contemporary interior. A substantial piece of British architectural ironwork with desirable North Yorkshire provenance, ready to become the focal point of a refined interior.
