The hand-moulded opaline glass shade has a bold architectural profile, with stepped and geometric contours characteristic of the Art Deco period. Its softly translucent milk glass provides an even, diffused illumination and creates a particularly striking effect when lit. Above the shade is an elaborate chrome-plated skyscraper gallery, constructed in multiple graduated stages and terminating in a domed upper finial. The gallery incorporates its original ventilated sections, starburst-style tray, locking bolts, hanging fitting and internal metalwork, together with the original brass and ceramic Edison screw bulb holder. The fixture retains its heavy-gauge chrome-plated hanging chain and matching ceiling rose. The combination of monumental opaline glass and streamlined architectural metalwork gives the light considerable presence, making it particularly suited to a large entrance hall, stairwell, loft, restaurant, hotel or other statement interior. The fixture has been professionally inspected and rewired in period-appropriate three-core 0.75 mm fabric-braided cable, earthed, tested and is in working order.
