the sideboard has a bold architectural art deco silhouette, combining the warmth and solidity of oak with strong geometric detailing. The raised back is supported by elegant turned columns, while the façade incorporates distinctive carved drawer fronts, panelled cupboard doors and substantial carved feet.

the arrangement is both decorative and highly practical, comprising three central drawers flanked by two spacious cupboards with internal shelving, providing generous storage for crockery, glassware, linens, drinks or other household items.

the oak displays an attractive warm colour and pronounced natural grain, with the substantial construction and traditional joinery demonstrating the quality of its period manufacture.

particularly noteworthy is the survival of the sideboard's original retailer label from validity furniture, london, together with its original hire-purchase documentation from cavendish furniture company. The accompanying paperwork adds an unusually tangible historical dimension and makes the piece particularly appealing to collectors of documented british period furniture.

at 136.5 cm wide and 126 cm high, this is a substantial statement piece with excellent presence, ideally suited to a dining room, drawing room, hallway or sophisticated art deco-inspired interior.
