The composition centres around an elegant figural dancer, modelled with the stylised movement and elongated proportions associated with french art deco decorative sculpture. The bronze-toned figure is complemented by a substantial veined marble base, creating an attractive contrast between the richly patinated metal and polished natural stone. A large opaline glass globe provides the principal source of illumination, softly diffusing the light and balancing the sculptural composition. The spherical shade reinforces the strong geometric vocabulary of the art deco period while producing a warm atmospheric glow when illuminated. The combination of figural sculpture, marble and opaline glass makes this an especially decorative example of 1930s french lighting, equally suited as a functional table lamp or illuminated sculpture. The lamp incorporates an e27 screw-fit bulb holder and has been professionally rewired.
