And cum shing. Crafted in solid silver, the pieces represent the distinctive tradition of chinese export silver produced for both domestic and international clientele during the late qing dynasty. Each beaker displays the elegant proportions and accomplished metalworking associated with quality chinese export silver. The restrained vessel forms allow the workmanship and natural lustre of the precious metal to take prominence, creating pieces that are both functional and highly decorative. Wang hing & co. Is particularly well known among collectors of chinese export silver, with surviving works admired for their quality and characteristic fusion of chinese craftsmanship with forms influenced by western silverware. The presence of work by cum shing adds further interest to the group. Dating to circa 1850–1899, these solid silver beakers offer an appealing connection with the flourishing export trade of late qing china and would make a sophisticated addition to a collection of asian silver, chinese decorative arts or 19th-century tableware.
