The composition is centred around an elegant sculptural human figure, modelled with the flowing naturalism and expressive character associated with Luca Madrassi (1848–1919). The warm antique bronze surface has developed an attractive period patina that accentuates the modelling and gives the lamp considerable decorative depth. Above the figure sits a distinctive bell-form shade assembled from hand-moulded curved glass panels, providing a delicate architectural counterpoint to the sculptural bronze base. When illuminated, the glass softly diffuses the light while drawing attention to the sinuous lines and modelling of the figure below. Standing approximately 44 cm high, the lamp has particularly elegant proportions and works equally well as functional lighting or as a piece of late 19th-century decorative sculpture. It would make a sophisticated addition to an Art Nouveau interior, collector's cabinet, console or side table. The lamp incorporates a B22 bayonet fitting and has been professionally rewired. It is presented in beautiful period condition with natural patination consistent with its age. Material Patinated bronze and hand-moulded curved glass Measurements displayed in photos.
