The lamp has a strong architectural profile, rising from a substantial stepped square brass base through a classically proportioned central stem. The warm naturally aged brass provides an elegant contrast to the sculptural opaline glass above. The original art deco shade is particularly striking, formed as a tall stylised flame with moulded detailing throughout the frosted glass. When illuminated, it produces a soft atmospheric glow while emphasising the dramatic flame-shaped silhouette. Period details include the original brass b22 bayonet bulb holder, brass gallery with locking bolts, rare 1930s brown bakelite pear-form inline switch and three-round-pin white bakelite plug. The underside of the stepped base is finished with a fine wool-mix green baize covering. Weighing approximately 9.9 lb (4.5 kg), this is an unusually substantial and decorative example of period lighting, equally effective as a statement table lamp or illuminated sculptural object. Professionally rewired with period-appropriate three-core fabric-braided cable, earthed, tested and reported to be in perfect working order.
