The cabinet features a pair of central doors, each incorporating four individually framed square bevel-edged mirrors. The reflective panels create a striking geometric composition against the dark ebonised surface and give the façade considerable visual depth. The doors open to reveal a useful internal shelf, providing concealed storage while preserving the highly decorative appearance of the exterior. Throughout the cabinet, finely executed gilt accents and detailed pictorial decoration provide rich contrast against the black ebonised ground, reflecting the Aesthetic Movement fascination with decorative surfaces, artistic ornament and exotic influences. A raised gallery back adds further architectural presence to the upper section, while the cabinet is supported upon elegantly turned legs united by a practical lower shelf, providing additional display space and completing the beautifully balanced silhouette.
