The coffer features a large lift-up lid opening to reveal a spacious internal storage compartment, providing generous capacity for blankets, linens, clothing and other household items. Of particular interest is the beautifully carved front, bearing the initials “d.h” together with the date “1723”. This dated inscription gives the coffer considerable historical character and provides an important decorative focal point to the façade. Standing on sturdy square legs, the coffer has a substantial and reassuring presence, reflecting the robust construction and practical nature of early georgian oak furniture. Throughout, the golden oak displays particularly attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and established patina, giving the piece considerable depth and character. The combination of aged timber, carved decoration and the dated front creates a wonderfully authentic appearance. At 144 cm wide, the coffer offers substantial concealed storage while also providing a broad upper surface suitable for displaying decorative objects.
