The lamp is conceived as both functional lighting and sculpture, with a richly modelled mythological figural composition forming the principal decorative element. The silver-plated surface has developed an attractive natural patina, highlighting the modelling and giving the piece considerable period character. Above the sculptural body sits a hand-moulded art glass globe shade, introducing colour and luminosity to the composition. When illuminated, the glass produces a warm atmospheric glow that contrasts beautifully with the cool silvered metalwork. Standing approximately 58 cm high, this is a substantial decorative lamp with excellent presence. Its combination of Victorian figuration, Arts & Crafts influence and elaborate metalwork makes it particularly suited to a collector of antique lighting or as a statement piece within a traditional or eclectic interior. Period-style details include Bakelite components and a B22 bayonet fitting. The lamp has been professionally rewired and is presented in working order. Presented in beautiful period condition with natural ageing and patination consistent with its age. Material Silver-plated metal, chrome-plated metal, hand-moulded art glass and Bakelite Measurements displayed in photos.
