Standing approximately 69 cm high, the lamp has substantial architectural presence. The tall silver-plated body is enriched with botanical and Arts & Crafts-inspired decorative detailing, creating an elaborate sculptural silhouette typical of important Victorian decorative metalwork. The lamp is crowned by a striking moulded cranberry glass globe shade, whose deep ruby coloration provides a dramatic contrast against the cool silvered surface below. When illuminated, the coloured glass produces a particularly warm and atmospheric glow while emphasising the ornamental quality of the metalwork. The lamp combines functional lighting with the character of a decorative object, making it particularly appealing for a collector of Victorian design and 19th-century decorative arts. The silver-plated surface retains a beautiful naturally developed patina with minimal age-related wear, giving the piece considerable period character without detracting from its decorative impact. A substantial statement lamp ideally suited to a grand console, library, entrance hall, drawing room or richly layered traditional interior.
