The lamp displays the functional elegance associated with french utility lighting of the period, with a substantial cast-iron construction providing stability and a polished chrome-plated finish creating a distinctly architectural appearance. The elongated form and restrained geometric detailing give the piece a strong machine age character. The original bell-shaped hand-made art glass shade features an attractive marbled cloud effect, softly diffusing the light and contrasting beautifully with the reflective chrome structure. Constructed from cast iron, chrome-plated metal, bakelite and art glass, the lamp retains a b22 bayonet bulb fitting and has been professionally rewired for continued use. A particularly versatile example of 1930s french lighting, equally suitable as a desk lamp, side-table lamp or decorative accent within an art deco, industrial or contemporary interior.
