An impressive antique english sterling silver candelabrum by thomas a. Scott, hallmarked in sheffield for 1902. Executed in the georgian style during the edwardian period, this substantial piece combines classical proportions with the accomplished silversmithing for which sheffield became internationally renowned. The candelabrum is designed around an elegant central stem supporting a series of gracefully arranged candle branches. Its balanced, symmetrical composition draws inspiration from earlier georgian silver, producing a commanding yet refined silhouette suitable for a formal dining table, mantelpiece or console. Crafted in solid sterling silver, the polished surfaces beautifully accentuate the modelling of the stem, branches and candle holders. The traditional georgian influence gives the piece a timeless quality, while its substantial scale creates considerable decorative presence. Thomas a. Scott's maker attribution, combined with the sheffield origin and precise 1902 date, gives the piece particular appeal to collectors of identifiable british silver. It represents an attractive example of the edwardian revival of classical georgian forms. A magnificent statement piece of early 20th-century english silver, combining precious-metal craftsmanship, imposing proportions and traditional georgian-inspired design.
