Very well made and of good quality, this attractive bureau provides both a comfortable writing space and useful storage, making it a versatile piece suitable for a study, living room, hallway or bedroom. The fall-front opens to form a practical writing surface and reveals a nicely fitted interior, thoughtfully arranged with a selection of compartments and smaller storage areas. These provide useful space for stationery, correspondence and other everyday essentials while retaining the traditional character expected of an Edwardian bureau. Beneath the writing section are two useful drawers, both retaining their original decorative handles and providing additional storage. The bureau also comes complete with its key. The piece is raised on beautifully turned legs united by a substantial supporting stretcher, giving the bureau an elegant and well-balanced appearance while providing a sturdy foundation. The oak has matured beautifully and displays gorgeous natural grain, rich warm colouring and attractive tonal variation throughout.
