The tall columnar body displays strong jacobean and arts & crafts influences, with a substantial stepped base, elongated central shaft and decorative architectural detailing. The richly aged bronze-toned finish has developed an attractive natural patina that emphasizes the lamp's period character. Above sits a large acorn-shaped glass shade, creating an elegant contrast between the delicacy of the glass and the substantial metal construction beneath. When illuminated, the shade softly diffuses the light while highlighting its moulded form. Dating from the reign of george v, the lamp is a particularly decorative example of british interwar lighting, well suited to a library, study, console or traditional interior.
