The spoons are crafted in the classic **Fiddle & Thread pattern**, further embellished with applied scallop-shell motifs in relief to the terminals. The combination of traditional patterning and sculptural shell decoration gives the set an elegant and richly detailed appearance. Each terminal is engraved with a **heraldic crest depicting Pegasus**, the mythical winged horse traditionally associated with freedom, inspiration and elevated aspiration. The matching heraldic decoration adds considerable historical character to the set. Crafted in **heavy-gauge sterling silver**, all ten spoons bear identical Glasgow hallmarks for 1825 together with the maker’s mark for Mitchell & Sons, a firm particularly associated with the production of quality flatware during the early 19th century. The set has an impressive **combined net silver weight of approximately 538.5 grams**, reflecting the substantial quality of the construction. All ten spoons are presented in very good antique condition with a beautiful bright patina. There are no noted bruises, damage or repairs, and the pieces remain free from later engraved presentation inscriptions or monograms. Clean and ready for use or display, this is a handsome set of early 19th-century Scottish silver combining substantial craftsmanship, classic Fiddle & Thread styling and distinctive heraldic decoration.
