Originally conceived in the tradition of ship and cabin utility lighting, the lamp features a characteristic gimbal-style articulated construction, allowing the lighting element to be adjusted while giving the piece its distinctive mechanical appearance. The substantial brass framework has developed an attractive aged patina that enhances its authentic early 20th-century character. The lamp is crowned by a hand-moulded glass globe displaying warm red and multicoloured tones. When illuminated, the glass produces a rich atmospheric glow that contrasts beautifully against the aged brass structure. Its combination of functional engineering and decorative Art Deco styling makes this an unusual accent piece for a library, study, desk, console or nautical-inspired interior.
