The original holophane shade features the distinctive deeply ribbed prismatic construction developed to refract and distribute light efficiently. The glass is embossed “holophane 2120” together with patent no. 114988, providing an attractive period detail and identifying the original design. The shade is held within its original heavy-gauge aluminium gallery with twin locking bolts. Above, a substantial tubular metal shaft is embellished with solid copper scroll-form wings and terminates in a heavy bronze ceiling plate, giving the fixture a particularly strong industrial art deco character. The light retains its original ceramic e27 edison screw-fit bulb holder and has been professionally rewired with period-appropriate fabric-braided three-core cable, earthed and tested. A highly decorative example of early industrial lighting, well suited to a kitchen island, hallway, loft, restaurant or contemporary interior where an authentic architectural element is desired.
