This handsome chimneypiece displays beautifully crisp decorative casting throughout, demonstrating the quality and precision associated with british architectural ironwork of the late victorian period. Its balanced proportions and richly defined detailing give the fireplace considerable architectural presence while remaining versatile enough for a variety of interiors. Importantly, the fireplace retains its original cast iron mantel top rather than a later replacement, preserving the integrity and authenticity of the original 19th-century design. An authentic registration number dates the fireplace to 1895, providing a precise historical reference and firmly placing the piece within the late victorian period.

the surround has undergone a comprehensive professional refurbishment. Historic layers of paint were painstakingly removed by hand rather than through shot blasting, helping to preserve the original cast iron surface and the exceptional definition of its decorative features. Following stripping, the entire fireplace was carefully wire brushed to both the front and reverse. Traditional grate polish was then applied and buffed, producing a rich gunmetal finish that beautifully accentuates the depth and crispness of the original casting. The reverse has also been professionally prepared and spray painted, ensuring that the fireplace has been completely refurbished from front to back. A superb example of authentic victorian architectural ironwork, combining documented 1895 dating, original components, suffolk provenance and beautifully preserved period decoration.
