The generously proportioned rectangular tabletop is formed from two large slabs of solid oak, showcasing the pronounced natural grain, rich colour and character developed through age and use. The substantial construction gives the table an authentic country-house appearance while providing an exceptionally durable dining surface. The top is supported upon robust, heavily proportioned legs, creating the strong and grounded silhouette traditionally associated with English refectory tables. The substantial underframe provides excellent stability while contributing considerably to the sculptural character of the piece. For ease of transportation and installation, the tabletop can be removed from the base by releasing four securing dowels, particularly useful given the considerable scale and weight of the solid oak construction. Presented in very good antique condition, with natural variations, marks and surface character consistent with its 19th-century origin. An impressive and highly usable antique dining table, ideally suited to a country house, farmhouse interior, substantial dining room or contemporary space seeking the warmth and character of aged solid oak.
