Entitled Dancing in the Kelp, the composition captures the animals twisting and circling through the underwater vegetation, creating a wonderfully dynamic impression of movement. The two otters are modelled with elongated, sinuous bodies and finely textured fur, appearing to weave naturally around the dramatic vertical forms of the kelp. Rich dark bronze tones with warmer highlights emphasise the detailed modelling and give the sculpture considerable depth and character. Designed as a functional water feature, the sculpture is internally piped from the base through the central section of kelp, with the water emerging from the top. The resulting effect can range from a gentle trickle to a more pronounced spray depending upon the pump used. Standing approximately 115 cm high, this substantial sculptural fountain makes an impressive focal point for a garden, courtyard, pond or landscaped setting. Equally appealing as a freestanding decorative sculpture, its unusual subject and animated composition make it particularly eye-catching from multiple viewpoints.
