The textile panel is particularly attractive, with carefully rendered waterfowl and naturalistic scenery creating a peaceful countryside composition. The detailed tapestry gives the screen considerable decorative interest beyond its original practical purpose. The tapestry is framed by solid oak displaying attractive natural grain and figuring throughout. Warm golden tones and a pleasing aged character complement the traditional subject of the textile panel beautifully. The frame is supported by projecting feet, providing a stable freestanding construction suitable for positioning in front of a fireplace. Presented in good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. Originally intended to shield a room from the direct heat of a fireplace, the screen also functions beautifully today as a decorative accent or textile artwork. Its sporting and countryside subject makes it particularly suitable for a country-house, traditional or English country interior. Dimensions: Height: 74 cm Width: 53.5 cm Depth: 25 cm See less
