A gorgeous, old eastern European (perhaps Romanian) pine and oak baker's table painted a lovely deep cobalt blue on the … Read more A gorgeous, old eastern European (perhaps Romanian) pine and oak baker's table painted a lovely deep cobalt blue on the bin and legs, dated 1761 in white. It is unclear if that date is original to the piece or overpainted. Table is comprised of a sliding table top, flour bin, sliding side storage drawer, and sturdy base. A line of red paint accents the trim carving around the apron and legs. Tapered, painted feet have been added to the base to bring the overall height up for use as a kitchen island. It stands 35" tall and could be used as is or top with a slab of quartz or marble to match your kitchen counters. At some point in time weathered pine planks were added under the original stretchers to create a storage shelf. Includes original key that turns (but doesn't engage) with matching tassel. Condition commensurate with age and use. Random scratches and imperfections on the wood. There is old, inactive wormhole damage. Tapered feet were taken from an old pine table, painted, and added to the base to bring the overall height up for use as a kitchen island. The entire piece has been waxed so you would need to use cutting boards and take care with placing wet or hot items on the wood top... or top with a marble slab.
