The chest features a gracefully bowed façade incorporating four generously proportioned drawers, providing substantial storage while creating the refined silhouette characteristic of the period. Each drawer retains its original brass handles, contributing to the authenticity and period character of the piece. The drawer fronts are enhanced with delicate satinwood inlay, providing an attractive contrast against the rich mahogany. Further crossbanded detailing around the lower section adds another subtle decorative element and demonstrates the quality of the cabinetmaking. Raised upon elegant splayed feet, the chest has a particularly well-balanced profile. The mahogany displays an attractive natural grain and deep, warm colour developed through age and use. Substantially constructed and presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with an early 19th-century piece. A refined and highly usable example of period English furniture, equally suitable for a bedroom, dressing room, hallway or sophisticated living interior. See less
