Sculptural nine-light ceiling lamp, model “gotodario/9,” from the renowned i goti luminosi series by barovier & toso, murano, italy.
the piece combines an organic, patinated iron structure with nine individually crafted murano glass shades, each hand-blown and mottled in polychrome. Each shade features a slightly irregular shape and a unique color scheme, with combinations of blues, oranges, yellows, greens, whites, and violets.
the design draws inspiration from traditional goti da fornasa, informal glass vessels historically made and used by murano's master glassmakers. Barovier & toso reinterpreted these popular forms, transforming them into highly expressive light fixtures while maintaining their spontaneous appearance within a sophisticated composition.
the metal structure, with its sinuous arms and free-flowing design, adds dynamism to the overall effect and lends the lamp a strong sculptural presence. Its asymmetry, rich colors, and playful character place it squarely within the postmodern language of late 20th-century italian design.
