This exceptional wool pile piece exemplifies the transitional aesthetic of the 1920s, merging traditional Far Eastern iconography with the bold, simplified color blocking favored by the nascent Art Deco movement. Its highly saturated field immediately draws the eye, establishing a powerful foundation among our collection of antique rugs.

The central field is rendered in a magnificent, glowing hue that shifts between deep salmon and vibrant coral. This rich coral pink color is dramatically framed by a wide, contrasting border of deep forest green or teal, a juxtaposition that enhances the visual depth of the composition. The use of such intense, yet harmonious, colors is characteristic of high-quality Chinese production during this period.

The design features an elegant, sparsely populated open field, allowing the rich pile texture to dominate. Scattered throughout are delicate, stylized Chinese motifs, including flowering branches, vases filled with blossoms, and symbolic floating objects tied with ribbons. These elements are rendered with a painterly touch, maintaining a sense of movement and lightness despite the rug's substantial presence.

Measuring generously, this piece is ideal for defining large living areas or grand dining rooms. The robust wool construction ensures durability while the sophisticated palette provides versatility, making it a timeless addition to both period and contemporary settings. This 8.1ft x 11.02ft Art Deco treasure represents a pinnacle of early 20th-century decorative weaving. See less
